Smile, It’s Tiny Pencil Art

My friend April recently posted this on Facebook with the simple, eloquent comment, “People are amazing.”

After seeing pictures of Dalton Ghetti’s tiny pencil art, I couldn’t agree more.

My favorite quote from the artist:

“It would drive me mad when I would be just a bit too heavy handed, and the pencil’s tip would break. I would get very nervous sometimes, particularly when the piece was almost finished, and then I would make a mistake. I decided to change the way I thought about the work – when I started a new piece my attitude would be, ‘Well, this will break eventually, but let’s see how far I get.’”

Great advice for anyone, I think.

For the full story and more pictures of these monumentally small works of art (and patience), read this article from Old Stuff Magazine.

P.S. This is from all the way back in 2010, so if you’ve already seen it, forgive me. I was figuring out life with a newborn in 2010, which didn’t leave me much time for keeping up with the Internet.
